There are some movies that no matter when they are released they just have that magic to stand the test of time. Then there are movies that are released that for their time were good but don’t necessarily age well. In what category does this movie fall into. Well it’s time to dial up your modem as I take a look back at THE NET released back in 1995. The Movie stars  Sandra Bullock as Angela Bennett Jeremy Northam as Jack Devlin Dennis Miller as Dr Alan Champion Diane Baker as Mrs. Bennett Wendy Gazelle as Imposter Ken Howard as Bergstrom Ray McKinnon as Dale Daniel Schorr as WNN Anchor L. Scott Caldwell as Public Defender Robert Gossett as Ben Phillips Kristina Krofft as Nurse #1 and was directed by Irwin Winkler THE PREMISE The movie’s plot will revolve around Angela Bennett, a computer expert who putting it nicely has no life, her life revolves around pizza delivery and her work. But Angela has finally decided it’s time to get away and enjoy life by taking a vacation. But just hours before jet setting Angela stumbles across some information on a disk that will turn her life upside down.  THE GLITCH Now when I say Angela has no life well she also has no friends other than a man named Dale Hessman, whom she had never met in person. Dale was the person who sent Angela this disk to help him out with. When she relays her finding to Dale that what she has found could be pretty serious, Dale jumps into his plane and makes his way to her, but let’s just say he has some complications with his flight and will never make it. FUN IN THE SUN Even though her friend Dale never makes it to her, Angela will still head off to Mexico for some much needed fun in the Sun. And almost immediately Angela will meet a man named Jack who not only she is attracted to physically, but surprise, surprise they both are in the same type of work. PLOT TWIST....NOT REALLY After enjoying some of the fun that Cozumel has to offer, Angela quickly finds out that, in an obvious plot twist you can see coming a mile away, that Jack in a henchman sent to find out what Angela has discovered and then eliminate her. WHO ARE YOU? Now after being able to escape the grasps of Jack, Angela tries to return home, but the people who want Angela dead show off just how powerful they’re cyber-powers are ad they’ve been able to erase Angela’s life online and have given her a completely new identity, that of a criminal , which will require her to be on the run. AN INEPT HENCHMAN Now I’d like to give Angela credit that it's her smarts and wittiness that will be a challenge for Jack to finish the job, but after the first couple goof ups, he now comes off and an inept henchman. And I say this also as Angela herself comes off as someone who might have book smarts, but definitely doesn’t have street smarts as she finds herself in one predicament after another, that even the most average bad guy should have no problem dealing with.  DO I RECOMMEND THE NET I can’t. I was really hoping this movie would stand the test of time as I remember seeing this movie when it was released and really enjoying it. But 25 years later just like a dial-up modem it hasn’t stood the test of time. FINAL THOUGHTS On a scale of 1-10 I’m going to give THE NET a 4.5 out of 10. Don’t get me wrong there are some interesting concepts in the movie especially for it’s time but when I was rewatching this movie it  just got so mundane and boring, especially in the second half of the movie I just wanted it to end.
