PATTERN OF DISCIPLESHIP 1. SELF-DENIAL One thing strikes you at the very outset and that is coming after Jesus involves self-denial. Luke 8:23 Whoever wants to be my disciple must DENY THEMSELVES and take up their cross daily and follow me. WHAT IS SELF-DENIAL? 1. Denying Worldly Values Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. 2. Willing To Lose Your Life If Need Be Luke 14:26 If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple. Luke 14:27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. 2. FOLLOW CHRIST It’s a continual pattern of obedience. Following at good times and following a not so good times.
