SSi Mantra, India’s first indigenously developed surgical robotic system has become the country’s first system to be certified by Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) to perform telesurgery and teleproctoring. It is unlike any other system in the world for the broad spectrum of surgical procedures for which it can be used (from throat to gynaecological surgeries) and its cost-effectiveness. It is named after its founder, Dr Sudhir Prem Srivastava, who ranks among the world’s foremost robotic cardiac surgery experts.
