Several thunderstorms on July 25 caused flash floods in London inundating roads and train stations, for the second time in 2 weeks. The Tube, London’s local railway network, closed several stations while many bus routes remained inoperable. Newham University Hospital and Whipps Cross University Hospital also remained closed. The London Fire Brigade received hundreds of calls reporting flooding of roads and properties, ceilings collapsing and vehicles stuck in the water. Contaminated flood water poses a risk of Weil's disease and Hepatitis to citizens. Some areas in London received 2.3-3.6 inches of rain.Thunderstorms struck the city after unusual heat on July 23. Warm air in the atmosphere collided with an area of low pressure near Northern France resulting in slow-moving storms that revolved around the same areas. London’s sewage system is designed in a way that water directly flows into the Thames. But now, there are risks in dumping contaminated water into the river as well. The past few weeks have seen floods in several parts of the world including Germany, Belgium, Turkey, China, and India.
