The BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) is officially replaced by the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). This new system was created under the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act, 2024. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be the chairman of GBA, and the Deputy Chief Minister will be the vice-chairman. The goal is to divide Bengaluru into smaller municipal corporations for better local governance and faster public services. Rizwan Arshad, who led the drafting of this law, says this step will help manage Bengaluru more effectively as the city continues to grow.
