ACPS At-Home Learning Plans “Under the orders of Governor Ralph Northam all schools in Virginia will close for a minimum of two weeks in response to the continued spread of novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. Schools will close from Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 27, 2020.” Office of the Governor, March 13, 2020 Amherst County Public Schools are providing extended learning opportunities for all students during the time that schools are closed. The At Home Learning Plans are opportunities for all students to stay engaged with education. These are not graded assignments, they do not have to be turned-in and nothing needs to be printed. Specifically, high school students, these resources are not used to fulfill any graduation requirements. The At Home Learning Plans are for parents to keep students engaged in learning. Parents, what can you do? Find a time during the day, every day that is consistent when your child sits down and completes this work. Allow a structure that supports them in being engaged in their education. Whether it is reading, writing, or working through math problems this will benefit every student in the long run. Please bring your child with you when picking up the Chromebooks, chargers and flash drives in order for the student to log-in and register the device using their ACPS Google Email Address. If any student needs school supplies such as paper, pencils, crayons, markers, etc. please contact the school or pick up a school supply packet at any meal distribution site starting Thursday, March 19, 2020. Students and/or parents who have questions regarding materials provided in the At Home Learning Plans please contact the school first and second contact by email the Instructional Supervisors identified for that specific content area. Supervisor emails are listed on the Academic page of the ACPS website with the content area they oversee.
