"Floor Drops Out is about how music can lift you out of a negative headspace and transport you to a different place. The music is eclectic and draws on genres like jazz, soul, folk and rock. I was hoping to create this transporting feeling when the music shifts (it does a lot!). The pre-chorus sections were imagined as a sort of 'folky' wormhole to propel us into the energetic choruses, leaning to a different style before coming back to the chorus. In the choruses, the final line 'the floor is dropping out from underneath me' describes the euphoric feeling you get in a club or concert when everyone has come together to share the experience.
