The accusations, which originated from the analysis of former Mataram University lecturer, Rismon Hasiholan Sianipar, regarding the use of Times New Roman font on Jokowi's diploma and thesis, which were considered inappropriate for the 1980s, have drawn major controversy. Sianipar stated in his YouTube video that this was strong evidence of doubts about the authenticity of the documents. Jokowi's reaction to these accusations was quite firm. He has stated several times that he is ready to take legal action, considering the accusations as baseless slander. Finally, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the Ulama and Activist Defense Team (TPUA) represented by figures such as Roy Suryo and Tifauzia Tiasuma stormed the UGM Faculty of Forestry. They demanded authentic proof of Jokowi's diploma. Syukri Fadoli, one of the TPUA representatives, stated that they came to clarify the alleged fake diploma. Jokowi responded to the action by remaining calm, but continued to emphasize that the accusing party must prove the truth of their claim. However, UGM firmly denied the accusation. UGM Vice Chancellor I, Wening Udasmoro, stated that the campus had complete evidence of Jokowi's academic journey, from registration to graduation on November 5, 1985. Dean of the Faculty of Forestry, Sigit Sunarta, revealed that UGM kept copies of Jokowi's diploma and thesis, even though the original diploma had been handed over to the person concerned. He emphasized that UGM had complete documents proving that Jokowi had studied there, from registration to the thesis exam. Jokowi himself appreciated the clarification provided by UGM, and called it strong evidence to refute the accusation. Jokowi himself, through his attorney, Firmanto Laksa, emphasized that the diplomas were never lost and were always kept safely. In fact, on one occasion, Jokowi showed his certificates, from elementary school to undergraduate, to reporters, although with a note that they were not allowed to be photographed. This was a step taken by Jokowi to immediately eliminate public doubt. He is also considering taking legal action against parties who continue to question the authenticity of his certificates, which he considers an attempt to tarnish his good name. This polemic is getting more complicated. A new lawsuit has emerged from lawyer Muhammad Taufiq who questions the origin of Jokowi's high school certificate. Taufiq is suing Jokowi, the Solo City KPU, Solo State High School 6, and UGM to the Solo City District Court. Meanwhile, Professor Marcus Priyo Gunarto from UGM denied the statement that was twisted on social media as if Jokowi's certificate had been lost. Jokowi, through his attorney, stated that he would face the lawsuit and was ready to prove its truth. Jokowi's legal team also stated that the request to show the original diploma was politically motivated, and chose not to publish it in order to prevent exploitation. They are also considering a counter-suit against parties who are considered to have spread baseless negative narratives. Jokowi himself, although appearing calm, continues to emphasize his commitment to clear his name from the accusations.
