If I'd only ready the Cat Mate instructions first! Obviously the filter does prevent a lot of build up around the pump but I suspect some cat or dog hair will get through and also the fluff from the filter! It's worth when you take the blue impeller out using a cotton bud dipped in a bit of vinegar wipe around the inside of the chamber to help get rid of any limescale build up inside. If your Cat Mate or Dog Mate pump stops working then try this fix first before forking out for a new one.
