Ukraine struck energy facilities across Russian regions 14 times over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Saturday. The ministry said that since Friday morning, April 4, Ukraine stepped up the number of unilateral attacks using UAVs and artillery shells on the energy infrastructure of Russian regions. According to the ministry statement, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked four energy facilities in Bryansk region, five in Belgorod region, one each in Smolensk, Lipetsk, Voronezh and Kherson regions and in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk region. A video posted on Russian Telegram channels showed the video of Ukrainian drones striking manufacturer of fiber-optic cables, Optikovolokonnye Sistemy plant in Russia’s Saransk city overnight. The enterprise provides Russia with its own materials for the construction of modern communications equipment, including for military purposes. Ukrainian drones also struck an explosive producing factory in Chapayevsk town in Russia’s Samara region on April 5. The attack on Russia’s energy infrastructure comes amid one of Russia’s deadliest strikes on Ukraine’s Kryvyi Rih city on Friday. The attack launched with a ballistic missile with a cluster warhead, killed at least 19 people, including nine children, and damaged dozens of apartment buildings.
