(This video begins sideways, but my husband will fix it during filming.) This was all I had dreamed of. Almost everything I pictured in my mind to happen, in order to look forward to this day and stay in positive spirits, happened. I couldn't be more grateful for this amazing life's experience. I'm so grateful to my amazing husband and the generous outpouring of support he gave me to accomplish this dream of mine. Family Tree Midwifery was definitely the right choice for us and I highly recommend them to everyone in Treasure Valley, ID. There are amazing benefits to an unmedicated birth, whether you are delivering in a hospital or somewhere else--home or birthing center. Even though it is a natural process, simply having a "will" to do it unmedicated can be greatly clouded by the pain a woman experiences during those hard contractions. In those moments, a woman becomes very vulnerable and mirrors others' responses around her, for better or for worse. It's important to know WHY you are doing it unmedicated. Simply wanting it may not be what gets you through that HARD active labor stage, when you know there is a way out and all you have to do is ask for it. If you are contemplating an unmedicated birth, I highly recommend you educate yourself on the process. Knowledge is POWER. Learn about the benefits of it to the mother and the baby, then learn how your body works so you can work with your contractions; not against them, which equals LESS PAIN! I hope you enjoy our video. First, start off by watching: "The business of being born". • More Business of Being Born Introduction You can watch in its entirety on youtube. Secondly, read some good books about the subject. I highly recommend "Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way" by Susan McCutcheon. This book educates you on the actual process and how your body works. It's also a GREAT tool for whomever makes up your support team. This specifies practices that you and your partner can use to prepare for the big day. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=natural+ch...
