I’m creating a new category to reflect a shift I’m seeing in max cushion shoes. While there are traditional max cushion shoes that we look to for plush easy days and relaxed recovery runs, there are some max cushion shoes that forgo the excess padding and use race caliber foams to deliver an experience that is both comfy and quick. Shoes like the Superblast, Invincible, and Cloud Eclipse have led the way in this new subgenre, and in 2024, it felt weird to keep ranking these shoes against the likes of the Bondi or Glycerin.
