Sameer Agarwal Dupuytren disease is a fibroproliferative disorder characterized by progressive contracture and joint deformity, commonly seen in Caucasian males in their fifth to seventh decade of life. The disease affects the palmar fascia, with the central fascia being the zone of maximum activity, and the longitudinal, transverse, and vertical fibers being involved in the disease. Normal facial bands become diseased cords in Dupuytren disease, which progressively shorten and cause joint and soft tissue contractures. Spiral cords, which develop from pre-tendinous bands, spiral bands, lateral digital sheaths, and Grayson ligaments, cause neurovascular bundle displacement and joint contractures.
