Media Trial: Issues, Challenges and the Road Ahead | Perspective of Lawyers and Journalists

Rotaract Club of NOIDA Youth with Adv. Shri M.P. Govindan Nambiar Foundation organised workshop on Trial by Media: Issues, Challenges and the Road Ahead | Speakers: Adv. Kaleeswaram Raj (Advocate, Supreme Court of India) and Mr. Satya Prakash (Legal Editor, The Tribune) | Adv. Kaleeswaram discussed about the archaic laws which govern the conduct of Media in India and he proposed the idea of enacting a law which regulates the online media in India. Mr. Satya Prakash provided a view on how the media is necessary to keep a check on the functioning of the three pillars of democracy, concurring the idea to develop a law to regulate online media and to provide more stringent and formal training to journalists for creating a better news content. The conference provided a balanced view on both the aspects of a media trial, whether is it necessary and relevant or not.
