Real del Monte is a lovely, historical mining tourist town 20 minutes up the mountains from Pachuca, Hidalgo by convi van. The British double decker tour bus may seem odd for the middle of Mexico but this town has a strong historical connection with England. British miners introduced the local food item, pastes, pastries holding meat and potatoes that miners could fit into their pockets for work. I ordered one at a takeout in Pachuca knowing nothing more than they were cheap, 20 pesos. I am so glad I was feeling experimental and hungry at the same time. Pastes are great and this is the place they began. For miles away, pastes takeout restaurants brag that their pastes are just as good as any you will find in Real del Monte. The Turibus can't take you everywhere. The sizes of streets determine where it can go. To really see this town, just get out and walk. https://alackofcleardirection.blogspo...
