Initially, Hansen thought about pediatric medicine, but as a result of his clinical rotation exposure settled in on cardiac surgery. The plan for his career evolved with each new experience. That introspection with each new clinical experience helped him really focus his decision-making process and follow his excitement about cardiothoracic surgery.
