C.G. Jung Lecture 2024: Metanoetics | Murray Stein

This is a recording of the 2024 C.G. Jung Lecture, which was organized by the University of Essex and took place on 24 March 2024. Murray Stein was the guest of honour. Taking his cue from Renos Papadopoulos’ inaugural C. G. Jung lecture last year, Murray Stein has been pondering the meaning of “metanoia” for individuation psychology. He views it as a profound change of heart and mind and the achievement of a transcendent psycho-spiritual standpoint. In this sense, he will propose Metanoetics as a field of study, and in this lecture, he will consider the centrality of metanoetic experience in the overall process of individuation. Murray Stein, Ph. D., is a Training and Supervising Analyst at the International School of Analytical Psychology Zurich (ISAPZURICH). He has been president of the International Association for Analytical Psychology (2001-2004) and of ISAPZURICH (2008-2012). He is the author of Jung’s Map of the Soul and many other books and articles. Eight volumes of his Collected Writings have been published to date. He lives in Switzerland and has a private practice in Zurich.
