ALEXANDER performs Kubus, Dittepottel & Plom from the 2020 ""Methods to Madness"" in the authentic industrial building De Cultuur Haven in Veghel. Alexander van Popta - piano, Jelle Roozenburg - guitar, Thomas Pol - double bass, Jamie Peet - drums Pianist Alexander van Popta was looking for a specific band sound for his first solo album ‘Methods To Madness’. So he gathered this strong line up around him. Van Popta: ‘Basically it's a jazz record, or at least heavily influenced by jazz. It is instrumental music with a lot of improvisation, something I love about jazz.’ Composer, producer and pianist Alexander van Popta started playing on his father's Fender Rhodes as a four-year-old. Only five years later did he actually receive his first piano lessons. Eventually he will study at the Rotterdam Conservatory with ao. Rob van Bavel and Kris Goessens. In October 2020 he released his first album ""Methods to Madness"", after he gained a lot of experience as a sideman with, among others: Ntjam Rosie, Benjamin Herman and Zara McFarlane. As an arranger he regularly works for the Metropole Orchestra. Van Popta: ‘I've worked on a lot of cool projects for other people in the past, but it was time to start working for myself.’ full performance: https://www.vpro.nl/speel~WO_VPRO_164... www.alexandervanpopta.nl This video was recorded in 2021 in De Cultuur Haven Veghel for VPRO Vrije Geluiden: music program made by the Dutch public broadcast organisation VPRO / vrijegeluiden / vrijegeluiden twitter, instagram @vrijegeluiden #vrijegeluiden #jazz #ALEXANDER
