Mantelaar​ is a start-up business that brings together a network of medicine students and elderly. In The Netherlands there are many lonely seniors who may not always get the care they deserve. There are not enough skilled caregivers to distribute their attention evenly. The innovators behind Mantelaar found a way to create a better and more devoted caregiving system by matching elderly with medicine students. The fundraising campaign for which they received 336% of the needed investments, proves that many believe in this innovative caregiving system. So what do they do? Mantelaar has a network of capable and motivated students, who study medicine or a comparable study. The students get to practice their knowledge in real life situations. They help elderly people with daily tasks, such as cooking and cleaning, but also take them out for a stroll or a visit to the museum.
