this video was made by a friend for free for my band New Casino. its based on Alice in Wonderland. its about a girl who eats a magic cupcake in the woods and falls in love. Morgan Kaplan was born under a Waning Crescent moon in San Diego, California on December 27, 1983. Unable to pay attention or sit still, he was moved to a new school every year throughout his childhood. His parents then found a Waldorf school—though they couldn’t afford full tuition, Kaplan was granted a scholarship. It was there that he was introduced to a more creative and individualized style of learning through art and performance, as well as bands like Nirvana, The Beatles, and Weezer. A few years later he went to his first live show, a then up-and-coming local band called Blink 182, and fell in love with the fun they were having on stage. He knew then that that was what he wanted to spend his life doing. After years working in night clubs and teaching snowboarding in ski towns, Kaplan moved to New York to make a go at music. After writing and preforming with a number of local groups, he released an EP entitled Ramona, and an LP called Oshiki 2, as well as a number of singles with French label V-Dogg and Italian label Millville Records. Kaplan’s second full length album, The Crash Landing Of Rhett Elroy, about an alien who comes to earth to save humanity from destroying itself. Inspired by Passport To The Cosmos by John Mack, Kaplan tells his own version of a familiar allegory—a sci-fi story about an outsider able to see things more clearly than we see ourselves. Drawing from Superman comics, Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust, and bible stories, Rhett Elroy cautions against intolerance and greed. Instead, love, peace, and understanding are cherished, echoing John Lennon, Kaplan’s mom’s favorite Beatle.
