The American University Deans' Council presented Faces of Change, an exploration of student and lifelong activism and the forms and functions of social movements in universities that are effective in producing sustained social change. This panel was comprised of AU community members who are making changes in the world discusses how students can use multiple forms of the social change ecosystem, acting as “weavers,” “visionaries,” “builders,” “storytellers,” “healers,” “disrupters” and more to make a difference in their communities and society at large as a result of their college experience. Panelists: Adeola Ajani KOGOD/MBA: Has leveraged her professional experience and academic background to create resources for pay equity and professional growth among women and underrepresented individials Kristen Batstone CAS/BA: Has dedicated her academic and professional career to improving the health and well-being of rural women and children across the United States. Miguel Bustos SIS/MA: He is a respected leader in racial and social justice with deep experience mobilizing people and resources for movement. Jermaine Gassaway SOE/MEd: He fervently believes that all students deserve an excellent education and the quest to reach and complete college and achieve lifelong success starts with every book read and every equation solved Lois Lipman SOC/MFA: A curious and passionate storyteller, Lois takes us intimately and respectfully into new worlds and cultures advocating for those whose stories she tells. Aisley Wallace Harper CAS&SPA/BA & SPA/MA: Her greatest passion is helping people, and she tries to incorporate compassion and empathy into all of her work
