2025 Basic Needs Summit | BCC Basic Needs Team BEHIND

🤩On December 5th, 2025, the Berkeley City College Basic Needs Team rolled DEEP at the annual Real College California Basic Needs Summit. 🌟With our Project Manager, 5 Basic Needs Student Assistants, and 3 BCC Student Success Navigators, BCC showed up and showed out! 💫Project Manager Izzie and Student Assistant Kei presented at their own session, titled "Going Viral: Leveraging Social Media for Basic Needs," highlighting how BCC has used social media as a main outreach tool to connect with students! This year’s Basic Needs Summit theme was “Sustaining Hope: Meeting Student Needs in Uncertain Times" and reflects our collective commitment to creating safe, equitable, and enduring support systems for students, even as higher education navigates political, financial, and social uncertainty. For the past seven years, the Real College California Coalition, supported by the CEO Affordability, Food & Housing Access Taskforce (which Chancellor Gilkerson chairs), has brought together students, practitioners, and advocates to share high-impact practices that address the diverse challenges our community college students face.
