The KR Market in Bangalore, officially known as the Krishnarajendra Market, is one of the oldest and busiest markets in the city. It was built in 1928 by the then ruler of Mysore, Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, and named after him. The market was constructed to replace the old market located near the Tipu Sultan's Summer Palace. The new market was designed by the British architect, B.H. Fowler, and was built in a rectangular shape with a central courtyard. It was designed to be a hub for traders and merchants who came from all over the state to sell their wares. Over the years, the market has undergone several changes and renovations to keep up with the growing demands of the city. Today, the market is spread over an area of around 7 acres and is home to more than 1,000 vendors selling a wide range of products, including fruits, vegetables, flowers, spices, and other household items. Apart from being a major commercial hub, the market is also a popular tourist destination in Bangalore. Visitors can experience the bustling atmosphere and get a glimpse of the city's vibrant culture.
