Gender makes agribusiness sense!

Gender inequality in agriculture has often been cited as a key challenge to achieving inclusive agricultural market growth. Given the above, the productivity and economic empowerment of women is therefore a logical priority for Musika. This priority is warranted both in terms of the importance of women’s agricultural production as a source of economic growth, and as a source of rural livelihoods and poverty reduction. To this end, Musika co-organised a coaching trajectory with AgriProFocus Zambia where representatives from Musika’s partner organisations working in agriculture value chains were trained in value chain gender mainstreaming. The aim was to increase business and public interest by showing the economic benefits or missed opportunities in the agriculture sector, thereby improving gender equity in agricultural value chain development.
