DCS learners complete theory and transition to practical training

Empowering the Future of Corrections: National Commissioner Visits Zonderwater Training College, equipping new recruits with the necessary knowledge, skills, and values. Shaping the future of corrections in South Africa. (04 September 2025) National Commissioner of the Department of Correctional Services, Mr Makgothi Thobakgale, visited learners at Zonderwater Training College to address them as they transition from the theoretical phase of training to experiential phase within correctional centres across the country. This group of learners comprises 491 leaners undergoing training from Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West; and Free State and Northern Cape Regions. Addressing the learners, National Commissioner Thobakgale encouraged the learners to remain professional, disciplined, and maintain their integrity. This visit signifies a crucial step in the learners' journey, as they prepare to apply their knowledge and skills in the real-world correctional setting.
