From the album, “The World Of Lonely People” By the time 1964 rolled around, Anita had had a dozen Hot-100 and/or Bubbling Under hits. The title track from this album, “The World Of Lonely People”, made it to #59 on the Hot-100 in 1964. Anita’s recording of “Don’t Let The Sun Catch Crying” showed how deep the British Invasion had reached into the American recoding industry. The hit version of the song by the writer’s group, Gerry & The Pacemakers, the song reached #4 in the US and #6 in the UK. On some pressings of Gerry & The Pacemakers’ version the song is credited to Gerry Marsden-Freddie Marsden-Les Chadwick-Les Maguire. The first recorded version was by Louise Cordet on UK Decca in February 1964.
