Trace the rich history of the Tobacco industry in NC at The Historic AMERICAN TOBACCO CAMPUS. After the Civil War, Washington Duke returned to Durham, NC to establish the family business in Tobacco Manufacturing. Dukes and Son merged with their competitors to create American Tobacco Company. The Manufacturing Plant was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. In 2001, the site was purchased for renovations. Adding an Amphitheater, artificial river and housing etc.... The site is know for it's iconic Lucky Strike Smokestack building built in 1902. In 1987, Bull Durham starring Kelvin Costner was filmed here and the surrounding areas of the Triangle. In 1988, the team gain national attention.....
