It's nice to be back at home in Vancouver and while I don't do too much exploring in my home city, it's fun to play tourist in your own area and that's what I intend to do today! After consulting with some friends, I've found Vancouver's best AYCE Japanese Izakaya restaurant that's so hidden the Google couldn't even find it. It's called Daimanya offering AYCE high quality sashimi including buttery blue fin tuna, all the lobster you can eat, fresh oysters, the best snow crab roe chawan mushi, and of course the authentic Japanese A5 Waygu beef (the only thing on the menu that is limited). I needed some help to tackle this AYCE Luxury Izakaya and enlisted good friend Geoff and Arthor whom I met may years ago in California at a conference. I arrived very early and to best make use of the time, I decided to visit Vancouver's (actually Richmond's) best Happy Hour where they offer an amazing lobster poutine, the freshest $1.5 oysters, and the best clam chowder I've ever had. After the Happy Hour, it's time for the Izakaya Feast! Before going in, we had a small challenge... How many dishes can we eat?! The number thrown around was 45! And with all the amazing seafoods and sushi form the blue fin tuna to the endless lobsters and delectable dishes, I don't think we'll have any problems with 45 dishes. We'll soon find out.
