On February 12, 2021 in Orland Park, Illinois at approximately 5:20p CST, a man demanded the keys to a Mercedes SUV while putting a gun to the victim's head. An alert and description was quickly broadcast to neighboring communities over established mutual aid radio networks and the car was spotted less than five minutes later in Oak Forest by an officer who attempted to pull the vehicle over. The offender fled that officer successfully and continued his reckless driving until being spotted a second time in Oak Forest. This time, the officer gave chase and pursued as they entered I-57 toward Chicago where he continued to flee at high-speeds while weaving in and out of moderate traffic with the officer following behind. Eventually, he exited at 119th Street and went north on Hamlet until crashing into multiple cars and coming to a stop at 112th and Hamlet where a foot pursuit ensued. Mere seconds into the foot pursuit, the offender fired at least one shot at the solo pursuing officer from Oak Forest, who reported it to the arriving backup from CPD and Illinois State Troopers. Eventually, the offender was spotted getting into a waiting SUV when CPD curbed the vehicle and found the suspect and another illegal handgun inside. Federal prosecutors took over the case and it remains pending, with a conference scheduled for mid-December, 2023. Subscribe today and we'll post a follow-up video after the case is adjudicated to let you know the outcome. As always, we thank our officers in Suburban Chicagoland for doing what they can within restrictive policies to hold Chicago criminals accountable. While PIT-trained officers are not common in the Chicago area, these men and women did what they could within their departments' policies and according to their training, to make sure this crazed lunatic could not inflict any more harm on our communities. At least not while incarcerated awaiting trial. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 00:00 Intro 01:16 Looking for Offender 01:55 Pursuit 09:40 Crash 10:15 Shots Fired 10:30 Backup Arrival / Foot Pursuit (Radio Traffic) 13:08 Summary Outro Music: 80s Cop Show by Twin Musicom is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/...
