BRUNSBERG - HOLZWEGE. Dead Ends, Turning Points & the Pathless Path of Creation A cinematic film essay created during a retreat at **Brunsberg Konsthall, Sweden**. Moving through forest paths, ruins, and dead ends, this film explores creativity as a nonlinear process of wandering, doubt, and transformation. Inspired by Heidegger’s concept of _Holzwege_—paths that lead nowhere—it embraces getting lost as an essential part of becoming. Description: This film is a walk into uncertainty. Set in the forests of Värmland, Sweden, this episode of SONGLINES OF BECOMING unfolds during a creative retreat at Brunsberg Konsthall — a former forest research station transformed into an artist residency. What begins as a physical drift through woodland paths slowly turns inward, becoming a philosophical exploration of creativity itself. Inspired by Martin Heidegger’s concept of Holzwege — paths that lead nowhere — the film embraces moments of stagnation, doubt, and interruption as essential forces of transformation. Not every journey leads forward. Some dissolve, disappear, or force us to stop. And yet, these dead ends often mark the true turning points. Moving through overgrown trails, clearings, and decaying structures, the forest becomes a mirror of the creative process: fragmentary, nonlinear, shaped by pauses as much as progress. Creativity appears here not as achievement or arrival, but as wandering, listening, losing orientation — and slowly becoming. This film belongs to my ongoing series SONGLINES OF BECOMING, tracing creative and existential pathways through landscapes, memory, and lived experience. 🎥 Shot on: Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K 🔭 Lenses: Vintage Zeiss / Hasselblad (50mm Distagon · 80mm Planar · 150mm Sonnar) 📍 Location: Brunsberg Konsthall, Värmland, Sweden Further reading: An extended filmic essay reflecting on the concept, process, and philosophy behind HOLZWEGE is available in my Digital Garden: https://silly-wisp-b858d2.netlify.app...
