Start learning cybersecurity with CBT Nuggets. https://courses.cbt.gg/security In this video, Michael Shannon covers how to use a WriteBlocker to examine a hard drive for a forensic case. This unique piece of technology is used to dig deep into a harddrive while preventing any possibility that you could add new information or write over existing data on the drive. A CISSP candidate needs to be familiar with things like incident handling, incident response teams, and forensics. You might not get the chance to do this hands-on, so Michael will demonstrate how to use his WriteBlocker to examine a hard drive for a forensics case. He outlines a scenario where you’re working with your company’s legal department and coordinating with law enforcement to investigate someone who is illegally downloading intellectual property. After you’ve extracted the hard drive from their PC, you’ll connect it to a WriteBlocker and begin digging. The reason behind a WriteBlocker is that you only want to view the harddrive, eliminating any chance that you’ll write to it. Michael will walk you through each step of how he conducts this investigation. 🔒 Download the Free Ultimate Security Cert Guide: https://blog.cbt.gg/imwx ⬇️ 15-Week Study Plan: CCNP Security Core (350-701 SCOR): https://blog.cbt.gg/bn8l Start learning with CBT Nuggets: • Intro to Cyber Security | https://courses.cbt.gg/w1d • Getting Started in IT | https://courses.cbt.gg/dmj • CompTIA CySA+ (CS0-001) | https://courses.cbt.gg/o26 • (ISC)² CISSP – Certified Information Systems Security Professional | https://courses.cbt.gg/9xl
