The Icy Strait Gondola is one of the most thrilling rides according to locals and tourists. One of the reasons why the gondola is a must-ride for tourists is the route it takes. It moves through the lush green tree tops located between the Wilderness Landing and the historic cannery. Icy Strait Point gondola ride provides spectacular 360-degree views of the mountain ranges of Alaska and its inside passage that includes the muskegs, glacially carved reflecting ponds and first growth forest. The top of Hoonah Mountain view is very scenic in its natural splendors. From the base of Icy Strait Point, ascend 1,500 feet to the top of Hoonah Mountain in a state-of-the-art gondola, with views from all sides. The lift was the second gondola to open at Icy Strait Point, a private cruise port near Glacier Bay.
