Various of woman crying, hugging children STORYLINE: The family of an Iraqi man, who died at a British military base, demanded justice on Wednesday after the British government confirmed that three of its soldiers faced a court martial for alleged war crimes linked to the case. Baha Mousa, a 26-year-old hotel receptionist from Basra, died in 2003 after being arrested and taken to a British military base. ''My father, my father, martyr Baha Mousa. I want the British soldiers who killed my father to be put on trial. They killed my father for doing nothing,'' said Hussein Baha, one of the victim's sons. Three British soldiers face charges. Corporal Donald Payne, 34, of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment, is charged with Mousa's manslaughter and with the war crime of treating him inhumanely. Payne is also charged with inhumanely treating eight other Iraqi detainees and with perverting the course of justice. Lance Corporal Wayne Crowcroft, 21, and Private Darren Fallon, 22, both of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment, are also charged with the war crime of inhumanely treating detained Iraqi civilians. Four other soldiers face lesser charges relating to the same operation. Britain has about 8,500 troops in Iraq, mostly in the generally peaceful Shiite south, where support for the Shiite-led government in Baghdad is stronger.
