Following the war, Reimu Hakurei escaped the Tokyo Tribunals by paying large sums of money to American soldiers occupying Japan, leaving her broke. However her crimes were eventually discovered by the occupation authority. She quickly escaped to her village of Gensokyo and built a barrier around it to prevent Japanese and American authorities from crossing in.
