Demonstration of 5 flutes, 4 by Rudall Carte & Co. - a standard closed G# Böhm 1847 system, a Radcliffs Model, a Carte 1867 system (all 3 on Böhm cylinder bodies with "parabolic" heads and all in Ebonite) and a standard conical-bodied 8-key simple system (in cocuswood) plus a French conical-bodied ring-key (in grenadilla) Böhm system (closed G# 1847 mechanism, so standard modern fingering), all at A=440 Hz modern pitch. The tune is "Splendid Isolation" by Irish fiddler Brendan McGlinchey, written in the early 1970s, in G minor. They are, in order of use, RC&Co. "modern flute" # 2013, made in 1890 but re-bodied to modern pitch in the 1920-30s; RC&Co. Radcliff #74, made in 1875 but also re-bodied to A440 in the C20th; RC&Co. simple system #6845, made c1881; French ring-key Böhm system stamped P Gautié & Cie, Toulouse, #5051, last 1/4 C19th/1St 1/4 C20th; RC&Co. Carte 1867 (all- thinned), "modern flute" #8146, made c1939.
