http://helpingwritersbecomeauthors.com http://www.kmweiland.com Historical and speculative novelist K.M. Weiland offers tips and essays about the writing life to help other writers understand the ins and outs of the craft and the psychology behind the inspiration. *** Today's question from Rune Vik-Hansen asks: "I am plotting and planning the rest of my 90,000 word fantasy novel and came to wonder about how to reach the Pinch Points and the three major plot points. I am thinking, 'three disasters + an ending' (Inciting event happens precisely at 10,250 words (11.38% mark). "While reading your blogposts on the subject, I came to wonder how many minor set-backs would be psychologically tolerable for a reader before they put the book down. I mean, writers can always throw in so many obstacles that the story never ends, that we never get to the 1st Plot Point or 1st Pinch Point, but at some point we've got to put the foot down and 'get on with it', so how many is acceptable? "I'm afraid the answer might be, 'It all depends....on the story.':) But are there any pointers, like with the percentile when what should be in place when etc." *** Want me to answer your question in a future video?
