He could have challenged offensive comments about Lord Vishnu through a formal petition or complaint to the Vice President and recommended impeachment. But Kishore chose violence instead of using his skills as a lawyer and the power of his pen. Thankfully, CJI Gavai pardoned him on the spot, preventing a police crackdown and legal consequences. Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack and stood in solidarity with CJI Gavai. However, a disturbing narrative emerged from certain groups normalizing violence against the highest judicial authority, arguing that instead of a shoe, a gun should have been used. This dangerous rhetoric was spread widely. An AI-generated video surfaced, portraying CJI Gavai in blue, with a pot hanging from his neck a reference to the historic oppression faced by Dalits, symbolizing humiliation and caste discrimination traced back to the 19th century.
