Suma (name changed for anonymity) started working at an MBB consultancy right after graduating from her T-15 undergraduate university. A year and a half later, she decided to join a secondment, where she realized she wanted to take a step further and apply to the Harvard, Stanford, and Wharton MBA programs. She successfully secured an admit to Harvard, and got waitlisted at Wharton. In this interview, we sit down with Suma to get her insights on the application process, her journey over the last few months after getting into Harvard, and what the current MBA landscape and job market in the US looks like. The Questions: 00:08 - Meet Sam and Suma 01:41 - Can you tell us about your grades? 03:14 - How many of your MBB colleagues applied to MBA programs? 04:28 - What differentiated you as an applicant? 05:59 - What about your extracurriculars? 07:18 - Are MBB consulting applicants at an advantage? 10:58 - How is the job market for MBA graduates in consulting? 12:44 - What was the hardest part of your MBA application journey? 17:33 - Has HBS changed what it looks for in applicants? 18:50 - How has the changing political leadership in the US affected your MBA? 20:18 - Tell us more about the HBS Admitted Students Weekend. 22:57 - How many scholarships and fellowships are available for MBA candidates at HBS? 24:05 - Have you had any exposure to dual degree programs? 25:01 - Are there any profiles that stand out in your HBS cohort? 27:16 - Tell us about working with an admissions consultant. 31:54: If you had to do your MBA application all over again, what would you do differently?
