Restoring rusty old straight razor - KNIFE RESTORATION

I bought this old straight razor for a couple of dollars for restoration. I thought since the blade was not chipped it should be quite easily restored although it is very rusty. Also the rust was not layered so I was hoping it was only surface rust. It turned out there was some pitting which is bad because on a razor there is not much steel to grind down to get rid of the pits. Luckily I managed to get rid of them. After removing the pits I polished the knife up to 2000 grits and then continued with metal polish compounds. I replaced the dull plastic handle with custom ash handle of my own design. I made it out of a single piece of wood because I feel it looks butter that way. I cut a small piece of wood out of undried wood and dried it in a microwave with a couple of short runs until I was sure it was dry. This is important so that the handle keeps it's shape after the razor is finished. I then drilled the hole for the pin as it wouldn't be possible after the next step. I then cut a large enough wedge tot the wood to fit the blade on my razor to act as a sheath, like a regular handle. I shaped the handle to my liking and make a pin out of brass plated steel nail.
