Here is a link to a 2-year update on how the palm trees are doing: • Two Year Update on Planting Queen Palm Trees This video is about planting a Queen Palm tree. I used my jack hammer to dig out my rocky soil, creating a 3 ½ foot hole to a depth of about sixteen inches. After checking the PH of the newly dug soil, which has a high proportion of sand, it ranged just above a PH of 7. Of all the research done, it seemed most palm growers came in with a recommended soil PH of about 6.5., with 6.5 being slightly acidic. So I salted the soil with an acid enhancer. I soaked the hole and salted the water with both palm fertilizer and soil acidity enhancer. The soaking and its mix was to add deep moisture and nutrients. Afterwards, I mixed the natural soil with about 30% mulch, palm fertilizer, and soil acidifier. I also removed all rocks larger than 3 inches thick from the excavated soil. The larger rocks were used to make a natural tree ring around the Queen Palm when it was planted. Because the soil was encased in asphalt and completely devoid of earthworms, I transplanted some of them from my mulch box. Earthworms are naturally qualified soil engineers that will help to enrich the soil to the benefit of my Queen Palm tree. Additionally, I strapped or anchored the palm tree below its growing fronds. The high winds that occur may either bend it over or damage new root growth. Realistically high winds could do both. I look forward to watching my Queen Palms thrive under good guidance
