Further improvements to partial pivoting through scaling each column entry under evaluation with the corresponding row maximum (of row entry magnitudes). The scaled values are used to determine the pivot row rather than simply the column extreme magnitude. Note there is a typo on the slide at the following location At time 4:07, A(2, 4) = 18 but it should be -18 This does not affect the row swapping algorithm since it uses the magnitude of the entry. Subsequent slides have the typo correct so the resulting row reduction is not affected. (see time 6:42) Additionally people have noted that the S vector must keep its row integrity as rows are interchanged. That may not be clear in the video.
