Google AMP: Accelerated Mobile Pages - Side-by-Side Comparison

How much faster are Google's Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) than standard webpages? The answer may surprise you! AMP is a project from Google aiming to make the web faster on mobile devices. It uses a small JavaScript file to control how elements of the page load. To validate, an AMP page must not use custom JavaScript – including analytics and dynamic ads. RocketMill chose three of the biggest sites using Google AMP: BBC News, The Guardian, and BuzzFeed. We tested the mobile version of three articles against the same pages written in AMP HTML. We downloaded each page three times over a throttled connection, to simulate 3G speed. This gave us average load times for Google AMP versus standard markup.
