Mossy O'Rourke of O'Rourke Well Drilling came to dowse the area, or "divine" it. We had never seen it done so were curious. Mossy said his father had taught him, and showed us how the two wires crossing could indicate water. After he shows Liz then Gordon how to do it - with mixed results! Later that week the drill rig came and they drilled the first day. After drilling to about 110 feet, they were at bedrock and water, but Mossy wasn't happy about the flow. Darkness fell and we went home, thinking about whether we would get water and at what cost... We had a small bottle of Jameson's at the house and decided that a blessing of the well and the insulted fairy tree could not hurt. So the next day early in the morning Liz blessed the well with positive clean thoughts and good flow. Mossy and John came back soon after and started up the drill again. Within 15 minutes he said we had really good flow! Maybe the blessing or the uisce beatha helped - who knows?
