Norfolk Southern 30N crosses the CF&E then does some street running on Hickory Street in Warsaw, IN

NS train 30N comes across the diamonds of the Chicago, Fort Wayne and Eastern and then partakes of some street running on Hickory Street. Fifty-eight years ago when I lived in Warsaw there were houses on both sides of the street. Today there is a CVS, a bank and a public parking lot where the houses on the west side of the street were located. The east side of the street still features homes. As a kid I thought living on this street would be the coolest place in the world. Notice the close clearance between the train and the blue F-150 parked there. I spoke with the owner who was curious as to what we were doing and he thought it was great we were taking video of passing trains and looks forward to seeing his street (and now his truck) on YouTube. Today’s 30N is lead by AC44C6M 4242, has 123 cars and the DP is another AC44C6M, the 4438. The DP is cut in behind the 79th car. The speed limit here is 25 mph and they look pretty close to that speed. Warsaw is located on the Marion Branch which extends from Anderson, IN where it connects to CSX’s former Conrail to the south and Goshen, IN to the north where it connects to NS’s Chicago Line.
