Rebecca Wright, Head of SEND and Inclusion at North East Lincolnshire Council talks about the progress we've made as part of the Department for Education's Delivering Better Value in SEND programme. (https://www.dbvinsend.com/). Every mainstream setting has been involved doing individual audits and action plans to detail the strengths, areas for improvement, and specific needs in their settings. We've funded a varied and targeted suite of training delivered to hundreds of professionals. The training covers areas such as autism, speech and language, cognition and learning, sensory needs, behaviour and emotional wellbeing, SEND for middle leaders, policies and curriculum, and more. We piloted a speech and language offer to assist with NHS waitlists, and deliver training and support. We also piloted the Springboard Outreach service where local skilled practitioners from a specialist setting work directly with mainstream Early Years staff and students. As well as improved confidence in mainstream schools to support students with additional needs this work has led to a culture shift in our settings to ensure inclusion and SEND support is central to all they do. Thank you to all the school staff and other professionals for their enthusiasm, involvement and commitment to the programme. This is just a snapshot of the progress made and hundreds of hours of work that have been put in by various professionals, educational settings, partners and organisations all to benefit the children in our borough. 0:52 Speech, language and communication training and resources (Intensive Interaction, WellComm assessment, screening and intervention.) 1:30 National organisations 1:36- Learn SEND Hub- Individual evaluations, consultation, audits and action plans for every mainstream setting 2:17- Training for leadership teams, SEND in the curriculum 2:50- Autism Training, funded for everyone 3:22- Speech and language support for colleagues in NHS to reduce waiting times 3:42- Education Otherwise Than In A School (EOTAS) 3:55- Springboard Outreach Pilot, Early Years/KS1 direct intervention with existing staff and students 4:32- Behaviour culture and polices (with Positive Regard).
