There were 2,329 students enrolled in the 2018-2019 school year. Students at Palos Verdes Peninsula High School are eligible and have the privilege to take Advanced Placement exams and coursework. Locals call it Peninsula High for short. Students with parents who are Employees and work at least 10 hours on the Peninsula are eligible to have their children attend. Same thing if grandparents live here. The school is Located in Rolling Hills Estates, formerly known as “Rolling Hills High School”. Rolling Hills High was formerly one school for all students living in the Palos Verdes area to attend when it opened in 1964. Peninsula High was formed in 1991 when Miraleste high school, Palos Verdes high school, and Rolling Hills high school were merged into one single high school. In 2002, another high school opened up on the Peninsula: Palos Verdes High School or PV High. Peninsula High school is located in the suburbs close to Palos Verdes Peninsula Center and the Promenade on the Peninsula, both of which are shopping areas. The school is about 20 minutes from the beach and a 2 minute walk to the shopping centers. Peninsula High includes a wide variety of AP classes to choose from and many clubs to get involved in.
