宗像大社は福岡県宗像市にある神社。日本各地に約七千ある宗像神社、厳島神社、および宗像三女神を祀る神社の総本社です。別名、裏伊勢とも称される日本最古の神社の一つでもあります。 宗像大社は、沖ノ島の沖津宮、筑前大島の中津宮、宗像市田島の辺津宮（総社）の三社の総称です。しかし、一般的に現在では「辺津宮」を指す場合が多いようです。 御祭神は、天照大神の三女神で、沖津宮、中津宮、辺津宮にそれぞれ祀られています。玄界灘にある沖ノ島は神域とされ、島で出土した古代祭祀の奉献品の多くは国宝に指定されています。また、沖ノ島は現在でも女人禁制であり、男性であっても上陸前には禊を行なわなければなりません。沖ノ島は、俗に「海の正倉院」とも呼ばれています。 平成29年（2017年）に宗像大社は、世界文化遺産登録されました。 世界遺産／国宝／史跡／福岡県宗像市 ____________________________________________________ Munakata-taisha is a Shinto shrine located in Munakata City, Fukuoka Prefecture. It is the grand head shrine of the Munakata Shrine, Itsukushima Shrine, and the three Munakata shrines dedicated to the three goddesses. It is also known as Ura Ise, and is one of the oldest shrines in Japan. Munakata-taisha is the general name for three shrines: the Okitsu-gu on Okinoshima Island, the Nakatsu-gu on Chikuzen Oshima Island, and the Hetsu-gu on Tajima in Munakata City. However, the term " Hetsu-gu" is generally used nowadays. The three deities of Amaterasu are enshrined at Okitsu-gu, Nakatsu-gu, and Hetsu-gu, respectively. Okinoshima Island in the Genkai Sea is considered a sacred area, and many of the ancient ritual offerings excavated on the island have been designated national treasures. Even today, Okinoshima Island is still off-limits to women, and even men must perform misogi (purification rites) before landing on the island. Okinoshima Island is also commonly referred to as the "Shosoin of the Sea. In 2017, Munakata Taisha Shrine was registered as a World Heritage site.
