Testing several different ammo brands in both a 4" and 2"(1.875") barrel to see what kind of velocity loss to expect in a snub nose .38 Special revolver. Weather was about 45 degrees and 70% humidity. The elevation where I shoot is about 600 ft. Just a note to people wondering about the Buffalo Bore round and why it's felt recoil is so bad: Simply put, it's energy in the snubby matches a 9mm out of a full size handgun, but with a heavier bullet (heavier bullets also add felt recoil) I had one round in an 11 oz revolver, making it's weight only about 12 oz, as where a fully loaded full size 9mm would weigh 2.5 X's as much, making the felt recoil in this snubby more than 3X's as much as a 9mm! Ballistic information in ft lbs energy (fpe) in both guns and energy loss: /Silvertip-240 fpe and 160 fpe, 80 fpe loss/Super X JHP-273 and 195 fpe, 78 fpe loss/Gold Dot 261 and 218 fpe-43 fpe loss/Fed Hydrashok-260 and 184 fpe-76 fpe loss/HST-225 and 173 fpe-52 fpe loss/Critical Defense-312 and 243 fpe-69 fpe loss/Buffalo Bore-442 and 352 fpe-90 fpe loss. Consider helping me on paypal with my supplies. I am a single dad and have to be careful how much I devote to the channel. Just a couple bucks could go a long way for someone like me.
