Most of a documentary about Neihuang lao qiang (内黄落腔), formerly known as laozi qiang (落子腔) and commonly known as laozi qiang (唠子腔 or 捞子腔), a genre of local opera (Chinese: difang xiqu, 地方戏曲) from Neihuang County (内黄县), Anyang (安阳市), northern Henan province, central China, which dates back to the year 1864, during the Qing Dynasty. This video, which was edited by someone named Xiao Li (小李), includes segments 2-9 and 11-12 of this documentary; segments 1 and 10 are missing. This documentary features the Neihuang Lao Qiang Opera Troupe (内黄落腔剧团). At 08:46, the leading huqin (胡琴, 2-stringed vertical fiddle) used in Neihuang lao qiang, called wenghu (嗡胡), wengzi (嗡子), or erxian (二弦), is introduced. This instrument has a more archaic design than the more widely played erhu (二胡) or gaohu (高胡); its cylindrical resonator has a soundboard made from paulownia wood rather than snakeskin, and its two strings are tuned to the interval of a fourth rather than a fifth. Probably filmed in Neihuang County (内黄县), Anyang (安阳市), northern Henan province, central China, c. 2022. In 2007 the tradition of lao qiang (落腔), centering on Neihuang County (内黄县), Anyang (安阳市); Huixian (辉县市) and Changyuan (长垣市), Xinxiang (新乡市); and Qi County (淇县), Hebi (鹤壁市), was included in the First Batch of the Henan Province Province-Level Intangible Cultural Heritage List (第一批河南省省级非物质文化遗产名录). Additionally, in 2011 the tradition of lao qiang (落腔), centering on Neihuang County (内黄县), Anyang (安阳市), northern Henan province, central China, was included in the Third Batch of China's National-Level Intangible Cultural Heritage List (第三批国家级非物质文化遗产名录) by China's Ministry of Culture (中华人民共和国文化部, known since March 2018 as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, 中华人民共和国文化和旅游部). The sub-agencies responsible for maintaining these lists, both under the aegis of the aforementioned ministry, are the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage (文化部非物质文化遗产司) and the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center (中国非物质文化遗产保护中心, CICHPC).
