The Puffins are back on Skomer Island, and we’re here to capture it all! Join me and my partner Lisa on an unforgettable wildlife photography day trip to Skomer Island, just off the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast of Wales. In this episode, we explore the island’s incredible birdlife, focusing on the charismatic Atlantic Puffins. It’s early in the season, so sightings are a bit hit-or-miss in April—but we were lucky. Puffin numbers increase significantly in May, June, and early July, making this one of the best locations in the UK for puffin photography. Lisa, a passionate wildlife photographer and my partner in life, brings her Nikon Z8 and experiments with wide-angle compositions. I’m shooting with the OM System OM-1 and sharing my camera settings for capturing puffins in flight—ideal for anyone looking to improve their bird photography skills. We also had a rare and exciting sighting—a Mediterranean bird species rarely seen in the UK, adding a special twist to our day.
